Brooke Storms is the newest member of the Crossfit PHL family. Her love of fitness began back in Columbus, Ohio, where at the age of 2, she took her first gymnastics class. She began her USAG competitive career as soon as she was old enough. Over the course of her 20-year career, she developed a love of learning new skills, strength and conditioning, and the competitive spirit of the sport helped push her to achieve the goals she had set for herself. Throughout her career she won several Ohio state titles, as well as qualifying to the Region 5 Regional competition every year. At age 13, as a Level 9 Region 5 competitor, Brooke qualified to the USAG Junior Olympic National Team. She went on to compete 4 years as a Level 10 USAG Gymnast before earning an athletic scholarship to Rutgers University in 2007. While at Rutgers, Brooke competed beam and floor for the Scarlet Knights, and was an EAGL All-Academic team member each year, and was also inducted into the National College Athlete Honor Society. After graduating in 2011, and her competitive gymnastics career came to an end, Brooke remained at Rutgers to earn her Master’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. She also remained involved with the team, attending strength and conditioning sessions as much as possible. Brooke has been in South Philly since completing her Master’s in 2012. She found Crossfit PHL through Fitness Works bootcamp classes, and loves being back in a gym that has community and team atmosphere. Brooke will be teaching basic gymnastics skills and drills to help improve body position awareness, mobility, and overall form for Crossfit-specific moves.
